If you live in an apartment in Roanoke, VA you know that Roanoke’s annual summer festival season starts officially on Fri., May 24, with Festival 2013.
Festival 2013 will be held at River’s Edge Sports Complex in downtown Roanoke and will include amazing concerts, vendors, and all of the fun you remember from years past!
Festival 2013 is free and open to the public during the daytime activities (from 11am to 5pm). Activities will including a Children's Area with inflatables, games, and story-telling fun! Everyone's favorite Fine Arts and Crafts Show will be returning and begins Saturday, May 25th with winners announced on Sunday, May 26th. Numerous community organizations will be involved, including The Roanoke Chess Club, a Power Tool Drag Race, the Roanoke Valley Mustang Club, the Roanoke Valley Antique Car Club, and a motorcycle show! American Electric Power’s 5K and 10K race will return, beginning at 8 am on Sat., May 26.
The first music events begin Fri., May 24 and continue through Mon., May 27. Entertainment is scheduled that will appeal to music fans of all genres.
Fri., May 24- The entertainment kicks off Friday night with country music and includes performances by Daryle Singletary, Mark Wills, and Andy Griggs. Friday’s music will close with Virginia-born Keith Bryant.
Sat., May 25- British band Bad Company, featuring Brian Howe, lands in Roanoke as the Saturday night headliner.
Sun., May 26- Sunday’s line-up presents country favorites James Wesley and Dustin Lynch.
Mon., May 27- 1964: The Tribute—the most requested show the Festival has ever had—will close Festival 2013 with its 14th Roanoke-area performance. 1964: The Tributetakes Festival-goers on a musical journey to an era in rock history that will live in all of our hearts forever.
